On a bright Sunday morning, Mount Little Zee School, Pathankot, transformed into a battleground of discipline, focus, and raw energy as it hosted the 3rd District Karate-Do Championship on July 20, 2025.
More than 200 young karatekas from different schools and academies across Pathankot participated in this much-anticipated event. The atmosphere was electric — parents cheering from the sidelines, coaches calling out kata instructions, and students adjusting their belts with pride and nervous excitement.
The tournament featured multiple age categories, from under-10 to senior level. Events included kata (form demonstrations) and kumite (sparring), judged by a panel of certified martial arts professionals. The dojo roared with applause every time a match ended in a clean strike or a flawless kata performance.
🏅 Highlights from the Day:
- 🥇 10 Gold Medals awarded across junior and senior categories
- 🥈 Mount Little Zee School won the Best Team Performance Trophy
- 👏 Inspirational demo session by Sensei Rahul Bhardwaj, a 3rd Dan black belt from Punjab State Karate Federation
- 🎯 Stalls offering energy drinks, karate gear, and even quick reflex challenge games for spectators
👨👩👧👦 More Than a Tournament — A Community Celebration
Beyond medals and matches, the event turned into a mini-fair.
🎨 Local artists had set up stalls with handmade crafts and sketch portraits.
🍲 Food stalls served everyone’s favorites — chole bhature, cold coffee, and masala fries.
🎶 Light background music and a few student-led dance performances during break time made the environment even more engaging.
Parents appreciated the initiative. One mom shared, “We usually see cricket and football events, but karate gives kids confidence and respect. This is what our children need today.”
💬 Why This Matters
Events like these do more than promote sports — they build community, offer exposure to local talent, and inspire the next generation. With rising screen time and shrinking outdoor activity, martial arts brings back balance, discipline, and strength.
Pathankot has shown once again that it’s not just about tradition, but also about building powerful, confident youth.
