UGC-NET-  is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian Universities and Colleges.

The UGC- NET JRF (it is compulsory Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both), will be conducted by the NTA (national Testing Agency). UGC-NET examination is conducted in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country. Candidates who clear the Test of UGC for Assistant  Professor are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

As per the press-release by Indian Government, the exam would be conducted twice a year June month and December month, and it will be conducted in an online mode instead of offline mode.

Jobs Opportunities for NET Qualified Candidates

University Grants Commission (UGC) announced by Govt of India in 2013 that the candidates who clear the NET successfully would be eligible for lucrative jobs in public sector undertakings (PSUs). UGC-NET scores is also used by the  PSUs for the recruitment process of the posts of executives in their organizations in disciplines like science (R&D), management, corporate communications, human resources, and finance. This step taken by the UGC would also increase the number of students taking the UGC-NET examination which has witnessed a gradual decline in recent years.

UGC-NET Qualifying Criteria

Qualifying Exam: Students must have minimum qualifying marks with aggregate 55% marks to General and 50% to reserved candidates in master’s degree. Students those appearing in the final semester of the master’s degree can also apply.

Cut off Marks: UGC-NET qualifying cut off marks for General category is 40% in Paper I & II while the qualifying marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Transgender categories is 35% in Paper I & II.

On the other hand, Top 6% of candidates will be selected for eligibility of NET Lectureship. Simultaneously, a separate list for JRF would be prepared.

Age Criteria:  For JRF Candidate must not be more than 28 years of age as on January 1, 2019. And for Assistant Professorship No upper age limit has been declared by UGC.

The age relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC- NCL, and PwD) and also to women applicants.

About PGT exam

PGT (Post Graduate teacher) exam is conducted by DSSSB, KVS, NVS & state conduct the TGT test when they require a teacher in Senior Secondary level. It is the Gateway to become PGTs in govt. schools. Exam are expected to be announced soon on the official websites. The interested candidates can apply for the same. Preference will be given to the CTET qualified candidate. DSSSB is of 200 marks and time duration is 2hrs with 0.25 negative marking, KVS is of 200 marks and time duration is 2hrs with 0.25 negative marking. This exam is conducted to recruit the teachers who are qualified and ensures the compliance to maintain the quality standards in the schools as these teachers are the real builders and gives the nation the young minds who are ready to contribute in nation. Age Limit: Candidates age limit should be between 18 – 27 years as on 01-01-2017 (Candidates born not before 02-01-1990 and not later than 01-01-1999). Age relaxation is applicable to 05 years for SC/ ST, 03 years for OBC & 10 years for PH Candidates & other relaxation details refer the notification.
Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed 12th
Application Fee: Candidates should pay Rs. 100/-
How to Apply: Eligible candidates may apply online through the website www.ssc.nic.in from 08-10-2016 to 11-11-2016 by 05:00 PM
Instructions to Apply Online:
1. Candidates log on the website www.ssc.nic.in
2. Click on Apply & Select the deired post
3. Again Click on Apply Link
4. Fill the form in 2 Parts (Part-I Registration, Part-II Registration).
5. In Part I Registration, Candidates have to fill basic information carefully.
6. After filling the Part-I, If there is no need to make any corrections then Click on “I agree” button. Thereafter no correction/ modification etc will be allowed.
7. Registration No will be generated, Note down the registration number or take out the print out of the page.
8. In Part II registration candidates have to enter the payment details, upload the photograph & scanned signature.
9. Those who are exempted from payment of fee can skip that entering those fields.
10. Fill all the details carefully & Submit the form.
11. Now take printout of online application for future use.
