नवरात्रि एक हिंदू पर्व है। नवरात्रि एक संस्कृत शब्द है, जिसका अर्थ होता है ‘नौ रातें’। इन नौ रातों और दस दिनों के दौरान, शक्ति / देवी के नौ रूपों की पूजा की जाती है। दसवाँ दिन दशहरा के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। नवरात्रि वर्ष में चार बार आता है। पौष, चैत्र,आषाढ,अश्विन प्रतिपदा से नवमी तक मनाया जाता है। नवरात्रि के नौ रातों में तीन देवियों – महालक्ष्मी, महासरस्वती या सरस्वती और दुर्गा के नौ स्वरुपों की पूजा होती है जिन्हें नवदुर्गा कहते हैं। इन नौ रातों और दस दिनों के दौरान, शक्ति / देवी के नौ रूपों की पूजा की जाती है। दुर्गा का मतलब जीवन के दुख कॊ हटानेवाली होता है। नवरात्रि एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रमुख त्योहार है जिसे पूरे भारत में महान उत्साह के साथ मनाया जाता है।
नौ देवियाँ है :-
शैलपुत्री – इसका अर्थ- पहाड़ों की पुत्री होता है। ब्रह्मचारिणी – इसका अर्थ- ब्रह्मचारीणी। चंद्रघंटा – इसका अर्थ- चाँद की तरह चमकने वाली। कूष्माण्डा – इसका अर्थ- पूरा जगत उनके पैर में है। स्कंदमाता – इसका अर्थ- कार्तिक स्वामी की माता। कात्यायनी – इसका अर्थ- कात्यायन आश्रम में जन्मि। कालरात्रि – इसका अर्थ- काल का नाश करने वली। महागौरी – इसका अर्थ- सफेद रंग वाली मां। सिद्धिदात्री – इसका अर्थ- सर्व सिद्धि देने वाली।
नवरात्रि , देवी के नौ स्वरुप
शक्ति की उपासना का पर्व शारदीय नवरात्र प्रतिपदा से नवमी तक निश्चित नौ तिथि, नौ नक्षत्र, नौ शक्तियों की नवधा भक्ति के साथ सनातन काल से मनाया जा रहा है। सर्वप्रथम श्रीरामचंद्रजी ने इस शारदीय नवरात्रि पूजा का प्रारंभ समुद्र तट पर किया था और उसके बाद दसवें दिन लंका विजय के लिए प्रस्थान किया और विजय प्राप्त की। तब से असत्य, अधर्म पर सत्य, धर्म की जीत का पर्व दशहरा मनाया जाने लगा। आदिशक्ति के हर रूप की नवरात्र के नौ दिनों में क्रमशः अलग-अलग पूजा की जाती है। माँ दुर्गा की नौवीं शक्ति का नाम सिद्धिदात्री है। ये सभी प्रकार की सिद्धियाँ देने वाली हैं। इनका वाहन सिंह है और कमल पुष्प पर ही आसीन होती हैं। नवरात्रि के नौवें दिन इनकी उपासना की जाती है।
नवदुर्गा और दस महाविद्याओं में काली ही प्रथम प्रमुख हैं। भगवान शिव की शक्तियों में उग्र और सौम्य, दो रूपों में अनेक रूप धारण करने वाली दशमहाविद्या अनंत सिद्धियाँ प्रदान करने में समर्थ हैं। दसवें स्थान पर कमला वैष्णवी शक्ति हैं, जो प्राकृतिक संपत्तियों की अधिष्ठात्री देवी लक्ष्मी हैं। देवता, मानव, दानव सभी इनकी कृपा के बिना पंगु हैं, इसलिए आगम-निगम दोनों में इनकी उपासना समान रूप से वर्णित है। सभी देवता, राक्षस, मनुष्य, गंधर्व इनकी कृपा-प्रसाद के लिए लालायित रहते हैं।
नवरात्रि भारत के विभिन्न भागों में अलग ढंग से मनायी जाती है। गुजरात में इस त्योहार को बड़े पैमाने से मनाया जाता है। गुजरात में नवरात्रि समारोह डांडिया और गरबा के रूप में जान पडता है। यह पूरी रात भर चलता है। डांडिया का अनुभव बडा ही असाधारण है। देवी के सम्मान में भक्ति प्रदर्शन के रूप में गरबा, ‘आरती’ से पहले किया जाता है और डांडिया समारोह उसके बाद। पश्चिम बंगाल के राज्य में बंगालियों के मुख्य त्यौहारो में दुर्गा पूजा बंगाली कैलेंडर में, सबसे अलंकृत रूप में उभरा है। इस अदभुत उत्सव का जश्न नीचे दक्षिण, मैसूर के राजसी क्वार्टर को पूरे महीने प्रकाशित करके मनाया जाता है।
महत्व
नवरात्रि उत्सव देवी अंबा (विद्युत) का प्रतिनिधित्व है। वसंत की शुरुआत और शरद ऋतु की शुरुआत, जलवायु और सूरज के प्रभावों का महत्वपूर्ण संगम माना जाता है। इन दो समय मां दुर्गा की पूजा के लिए पवित्र अवसर माने जाते है। त्योहार की तिथियाँ चंद्र कैलेंडर के अनुसार निर्धारित होती हैं। नवरात्रि पर्व, माँ-दुर्गा की अवधारणा भक्ति और परमात्मा की शक्ति (उदात्त, परम, परम रचनात्मक ऊर्जा) की पूजा का सबसे शुभ और अनोखा अवधि माना जाता है। यह पूजा वैदिक युग से पहले, प्रागैतिहासिक काल से है। ऋषि के वैदिक युग के बाद से, नवरात्रि के दौरान की भक्ति प्रथाओं में से मुख्य रूप गायत्री साधना का हैं।
नवरात्रि के पहले तीन दिन
नवरात्रि के पहले तीन दिन देवी दुर्गा की पूजा करने के लिए समर्पित किए गए हैं। यह पूजा उसकी ऊर्जा और शक्ति की की जाती है। प्रत्येक दिन दुर्गा के एक अलग रूप को समर्पित है। त्योहार के पहले दिन बालिकाओं की पूजा की जाती है। दूसरे दिन युवती की पूजा की जाती है। तीसरे दिन जो महिला परिपक्वता के चरण में पहुंच गयी है उसकि पूजा की जाती है। देवी दुर्गा के विनाशकारी पहलु सब बुराई प्रवृत्तियों पर विजय प्राप्त करने के प्रतिबद्धता के प्रतीक है।
नवरात्रि के चौथा से छठे दिन
व्यक्ति जब अहंकार, क्रोध, वासना और अन्य पशु प्रवृत्ति की बुराई प्रवृत्तियों पर विजय प्राप्त कर लेता है, वह एक शून्य का अनुभव करता है। यह शून्य आध्यात्मिक धन से भर जाता है। प्रयोजन के लिए, व्यक्ति सभी भौतिकवादी, आध्यात्मिक धन और समृद्धि प्राप्त करने के लिए देवी लक्ष्मी की पूजा करता है। नवरात्रि के चौथे, पांचवें और छठे दिन लक्ष्मी- समृद्धि और शांति की देवी, की पूजा करने के लिए समर्पित है। शायद व्यक्ति बुरी प्रवृत्तियों और धन पर विजय प्राप्त कर लेता है, पर वह अभी सच्चे ज्ञान से वंचित है। ज्ञान एक मानवीय जीवन जीने के लिए आवश्यक है भले हि वह सत्ता और धन के साथ समृद्ध है। इसलिए, नवरात्रि के पांचवें दिन देवी सरस्वती की पूजा की जाती है। सभी पुस्तकों और अन्य साहित्य सामग्रीयो को एक स्थान पर इकट्ठा कर दिया जाता हैं और एक दीया देवी आह्वान और आशीर्वाद लेने के लिए, देवता के सामने जलाया जाता है।
नवरात्रि का सातवां और आठवां दिन
सातवें दिन, कला और ज्ञान की देवी, सरस्वती, की पूजा की है। प्रार्थनायें, आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान की तलाश के उद्देश्य के साथ की जाती हैं। आठवे दिन पर एक ‘यज्ञ’ किया जाता है। यह एक बलिदान है जो देवी दुर्गा को सम्मान तथा उनको विदा करता है।
नवरात्रि का नौवां दिन
नौवा दिन नवरात्रि समारोह का अंतिम दिन है। यह महानवमी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। ईस दिन पर, कन्या पूजन होता है। उन नौ जवान लड़कियों की पूजा होती है जो अभी तक यौवन की अवस्था तक नहीं पहुँची है। इन नौ लड़कियों को देवी दुर्गा के नौ रूपों का प्रतीक माना जाता है। लड़कियों का सम्मान तथा स्वागत करने के लिए उनके पैर धोए जाते हैं। पूजा के अंत में लड़कियों को उपहार के रूप में नए कपड़े पेश किए जाते हैं।
प्रमुख कथा
लंका-युद्ध में ब्रह्माजी ने श्रीराम से रावण वध के लिए चंडी देवी का पूजन कर देवी को प्रसन्न करने को कहा और बताए अनुसार चंडी पूजन और हवन हेतु दुर्लभ एक सौ आठ नीलकमल की व्यवस्था की गई। वहीं दूसरी ओर रावण ने भी अमरता के लोभ में विजय कामना से चंडी पाठ प्रारंभ किया। यह बात इंद्र देव ने पवन देव के माध्यम से श्रीराम के पास पहुँचाई और परामर्श दिया कि चंडी पाठ यथासभंव पूर्ण होने दिया जाए। इधर हवन सामग्री में पूजा स्थल से एक नीलकमल रावण की मायावी शक्ति से गायब हो गया और राम का संकल्प टूटता-सा नजर आने लगा। भय इस बात का था कि देवी माँ रुष्ट न हो जाएँ। दुर्लभ नीलकमल की व्यवस्था तत्काल असंभव थी, तब भगवान राम को सहज ही स्मरण हुआ कि मुझे लोग ‘कमलनयन नवकंच लोचन’ कहते हैं, तो क्यों न संकल्प पूर्ति हेतु एक नेत्र अर्पित कर दिया जाए और प्रभु राम जैसे ही तूणीर से एक बाण निकालकर अपना नेत्र निकालने के लिए तैयार हुए, तब देवी ने प्रकट हो, हाथ पकड़कर कहा- राम मैं प्रसन्न हूँ और विजयश्री का आशीर्वाद दिया। वहीं रावण के चंडी पाठ में यज्ञ कर रहे ब्राह्मणों की सेवा में ब्राह्मण बालक का रूप धर कर हनुमानजी सेवा में जुट गए। निःस्वार्थ सेवा देखकर ब्राह्मणों ने हनुमानजी से वर माँगने को कहा। इस पर हनुमान ने विनम्रतापूर्वक कहा- प्रभु, आप प्रसन्न हैं तो जिस मंत्र से यज्ञ कर रहे हैं, उसका एक अक्षर मेरे कहने से बदल दीजिए। ब्राह्मण इस रहस्य को समझ नहीं सके और तथास्तु कह दिया। मंत्र में जयादेवी… भूर्तिहरिणी में ‘ह’ के स्थान पर ‘क’ उच्चारित करें, यही मेरी इच्छा है। भूर्तिहरिणी यानी कि प्राणियों की पीड़ा हरने वाली और ‘करिणी’ का अर्थ हो गया प्राणियों को पीड़ित करने वाली, जिससे देवी रुष्ट हो गईं और रावण का सर्वनाश करवा दिया। हनुमानजी महाराज ने श्लोक में ‘ह’ की जगह ‘क’ करवाकर रावण के यज्ञ की दिशा ही बदल दी।
अन्य कथाएं
इस पर्व से जुड़ी एक अन्य कथा अनुसार देवी दुर्गा ने एक भैंस रूपी असुर अर्थात महिषासुर का वध किया था। पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार महिषासुर के एकाग्र ध्यान से बाध्य होकर देवताओं ने उसे अजय होने का वरदान दे दिया। उसको वरदान देने के बाद देवताओं को चिंता हुई कि वह अब अपनी शक्ति का गलत प्रयोग करेगा। और प्रत्याशित प्रतिफल स्वरूप महिषासुर ने नरक का विस्तार स्वर्ग के द्वार तक कर दिया और उसके इस कृत्य को देख देवता विस्मय की स्थिति में आ गए। महिषासुर ने सूर्य, इन्द्र, अग्नि, वायु, चन्द्रमा, यम, वरुण और अन्य देवताओं के सभी अधिकार छीन लिए हैं और स्वयं स्वर्गलोक का मालिक बन बैठा। देवताओं को महिषासुर के प्रकोप से पृथ्वी पर विचरण करना पड़ रहा है।[2] तब महिषासुर के इस दुस्साहस से क्रोधित होकर देवताओं ने देवी दुर्गा की रचना की। ऐसा माना जाता है कि देवी दुर्गा के निर्माण में सारे देवताओं का एक समान बल लगाया गया था। महिषासुर का नाश करने के लिए सभी देवताओं ने अपने अपने अस्त्र देवी दुर्गा को दिए थे और कहा जाता है कि इन देवताओं के सम्मिलित प्रयास से देवी दुर्गा और बलवान हो गईं थी। इन नौ दिन देवी-महिषासुर संग्राम हुआ और अन्ततः महिषासुर-वध कर महिषासुर मर्दिनी कहलायीं।
धार्मिक क्रिया
चौमासे में जो कार्य स्थगित किए गए होते हैं, उनके आरंभ के लिए साधन इसी दिन से जुटाए जाते हैं। क्षत्रियों का यह बहुत बड़ा पर्व है। इस दिन ब्राह्मण सरस्वती-पूजन तथा क्षत्रिय शस्त्र-पूजन आरंभ करते हैं। विजयादशमी या दशहरा एक राष्ट्रीय पर्व है। अर्थात आश्विन शुक्ल दशमी को सायंकाल तारा उदय होने के समय ‘विजयकाल’ रहता है।[क] यह सभी कार्यों को सिद्ध करता है। आश्विन शुक्ल दशमी पूर्वविद्धा निषिद्ध, परविद्धा शुद्ध और श्रवण नक्षत्रयुक्त सूर्योदयव्यापिनी सर्वश्रेष्ठ होती है। अपराह्न काल, श्रवण नक्षत्र तथा दशमी का प्रारंभ विजय यात्रा का मुहूर्त माना गया है। दुर्गा-विसर्जन, अपराजिता पूजन, विजय-प्रयाग, शमी पूजन तथा नवरात्र-पारण इस पर्व के महान कर्म हैं। इस दिन संध्या के समय नीलकंठ पक्षी का दर्शन शुभ माना जाता है। क्षत्रिय/राजपूतों इस दिन प्रातः स्नानादि नित्य कर्म से निवृत्त होकर संकल्प मंत्र लेते हैं।[ख] इसके पश्चात देवताओं, गुरुजन, अस्त्र-शस्त्र, अश्व आदि के यथाविधि पूजन की परंपरा है।[5] नवरात्रि के दौरान कुछ भक्तों उपवास और प्रार्थना, स्वास्थ्य और समृद्धि के संरक्षण के लिए रखते हैं। भक्त इस व्रत के समय मांस, शराब, अनाज, गेहूं और प्याज नही खाते। नवरात्रि और मौसमी परिवर्तन के काल के दौरान अनाज आम तौर पर परहेज कर दिया जाते है क्योंकि मानते है कि अनाज नकारात्मक ऊर्जा को आकर्षित करता हैं। नवरात्रि आत्मनिरीक्षण और शुद्धि का अवधि है और पारंपरिक रूप से नए उद्यम शुरू करने के लिए एक शुभ और धार्मिक समय है।

The Pathankot airbase station, which had witnessed a terror attack last year, was put on high alert on Tuesday and a massive search operation was initiated in the area following intelligence input about presence of suspicious men.
The joint operation of Punjab Police, the Army, the Air Force and the Himachal Pradesh Police was launched following the intelligence input, Pathankot SSP Nilambari Vijayjagdale said.
Without divulging much information, she said the search operation is part of precautionary measures and more than 500 security personnel are engaged in it.
SSP Pathankot Nilambri Vijay while speaking on the issue said, “We had got intelligence inputs about presence of anti-national elements so it’s just a precautionary measure.”
The SSP said the operation is being carried out in villages and other areas located near the airbase station and air surveillance is also being conducted using helicopters. Basant Panchami is a very popular Hindu festival related to goddess Saraswati, who is the devi of knowledge, art and music. Yellow represents spiritual knowledge, increasing the significance of the festival. People eat yellow sweets and distribute the same among friends and relatives. People feed Brahmans on this occasion and also perform Pitra-Tarpan, the traditional ancestral worship. Basant Panchami is the day when children are taught their first words, making it an auspicious occasion which marks the beginning of their learning process. On this day, schools and colleges organize special worships for goddess Saraswati. Traditionally children place their books on the altar, at the goddess’s feet. No one is allowed to touch the books during this period as they believe that goddess Saraswati is blessing the books.
Devotees believe that worshipping of goddess Saraswati will lead to spiritual enlightenment. It is generally said that there is no comparison between a king and a learned person as the king is honored only in his land but a learned person is respected everywhere. Saintly and learned people who are inclined towards spirituality know the importance of worshipping goddess Saraswati. Other activities performed on this day include worshipping of Kamadeva, the God of Love. On this occasion, people offers prayers to the Sun God and the deities associated with Ganges. The festivities of Basant Panchami include kite flying and a kite festival is observed in Ferozepur, Punjab. Basant Panchami marks the arrival of spring and can be noted from the colored blooms in trees and crops. This is the period when mango flowers start blossoming on trees, representing the beginning of a new life. Basant Panchami spiritually signifies that the days of ignorance and gloom are over and the period of joy and spiritual awakening has begun.
