Tourist Places in Pathankot
Pathankot is a small city but there are many places which attracts the tourists from the different states. Places like Ranjeet Sagar Dam, Mukteshwar Dham, Kathgarh and Nurpur fort are always the fascination point. People often come there during vacations with their family. The heritage buildings like Nurpur fort and shahpur fort etc are very famous in the city. Everyone loves to go out with their family on weekends and these tourist places are the best place to go for outing with the friends or family. Generally people love to go in quite and calm places because they give freshness to their mind and soul. All these places have beautiful views of the nature so the nature lovers must visit these type of places.
Ranjeet sagar dam is constructed on the river Raavi which flows from the Himachal pradesh. Many tourists come here to see the beauty of this place. The river water and the natural beauty of that place enhance its beauty. This dam provides electricity to various near by cities. The dam has provided a great source of income to various people. The Mukteshwar Dham is also near to it. It is an old temple of lord Shiva, the pandvas constructed this temple on the bank of river and they stayed there during their exile. By crossing 108 stairs the pilgrims visits there. Every year three day fair is organized over there.
Kathgarh is also a religious place near by Pathankot. It is an ancient temple in Himachal pradesh and people from Punjab, Jammu and Himachal come there to visit and to worship that place. There are two lingas of lord shiva in that place, one thing is very strange about this place that is during the summer the two lingas get separated from each other and during winter they come closer to each other. No one knows the mystery behind this. Every year fate and open langar is organized by the temple committee. People love to come over here.
The other tourist point or we can say a big picnic spot is Nurpur fort. This is also an ancient heritage building. This fort was the fort of a king during the British empire, there is also one lord krishna temple over there. This fort is on the top of a hill so the view of the top is very beautiful. Many tourist come there to spend their leisure time and for the picnic.
