Bharatiya Janata Party has become an eminent political party in the country under the strong leadership of its members. The party was founded in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The roots of the party lie in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. BJP is also known as Indian people’s party. The party was combined with other parties in 1977 to form Janata party and had achieved a great success in the election by defeating the Congress party and then after three years the party diffused in 1980.

Under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee the party made a coalition called National Democratic Alliance (NDA). BJP Party achieved a lot under the working of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Then the party faced a defeat, which shocked everyone and a new turn, in the politics after so many years took place in 2014 Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi won with a remarkable victory and with maximum number of votes. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna and Narendra Modi etc. are the prominent BJP leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced a remarkable step demonetization against the corruption.
BJP in pathankot lies at 3rd position in the consituency with an open consituency. The BJP party has politcical leader in pathankot who are working for the development of the city. BJP get first MLA on Pathankot on 1985 this is Master Mohan Lal by defeting Sh Ram Swroop Baghi. Second time also won by Master Mohan Lal on 1997 & 2007 By defeting Sh Kishan Chand & Ashok Sharma and get 35384 & 43717 Votes. In 2012 Ashwani Sharma was the MLA of the city and he won with 42218 votes in pathankot. Dinesh Singh (Babu) is the prominent leader of the sujanpur city. He helps the poor people and listen the problems of the people and also help them. According to the records of Election Commission of India the city had about 130391 voters and 68013 and 62378 male and female voters. BJP workers in pathankot are putting their efforts in making the city more developed.
